Why I Didn’t Vote Red, You Judge?

They oppose social freedom and religion plays too large an influence in their moral standings.
I don’t believe they would reduce spending. There is an economic crisis, the only solution we currently know of are stimulus and bailouts, republicans would be doing the exact same thing right now.
They do not want to do anything about health care.. Not that I really care about it, but I know that it’s something that does affect the lives of many Americans.
They don’t have good foreign policies. They aren’t uniters and who knows by now our military would probably be invading Iran and dropping the nuke on NK.
As for job creation, tax cuts alone won’t fix it. The economy needs to be fixed first and handing out tax cuts whilst writing bailout/stimulus checks makes no sense. Besides that they did not seem to have any real strategy towards job creation. Obama seemed to have a plan, whether its working or not is questionable, but yet he had a plan.. McCain didn’t.
As for energy, I disagree with Cap N Trade, its bad for business and adds bills on households. I think it serves only as tax revenue with the weak notion of motivating the move towards alternative energy. However it will burden businesses with no real alternative sources to turn to right now.
I do agree with Obama pushing for new renewable energy resources, McCain did mention it in his campaign as well but he never spoke strongly about it.
Lastly Palin, she was scary, like ‘God told me to go to War’ scary. I felt in no way should this woman be allowed anywhere near the white house. Plus she bullshhted her way through interviews, badly, and only made herself look unprepared.. which reflected badly on McCains campaign overall.
Anyways, thats my position.. As for now, I did not think Obama will be a God. He’s in one of the toughest positions presidents have faced. Two dumb wars, an enemy who’s a threat to national security somewhere out there, an economy in shambles, people demanding all sorts left right and centre, the country pretty much torn in the middle on which direction it should go. Obama cannot be a friend to everyone that is certain.
As for what he’s done so far, I can’t complain, he’s facing heavy criticism on every action from the right who are working effortlessly to slow down progress. But so far he hasn’t accomplished much, I think its still too soon to judge whether he’s a failure or a success.
I look forward to hear your responses especially from the repubs out here on y/a
Looove it.
Obama scares me, but I agree that the cap and trade is a bad idea, you have to worry about one or the other, economy/ environment. You can’t do both they contradict each other. The right is not trying to slow down “progress” their trying to slow down destruction on a massive level.
We oppose social freedom? I would like to have an example of that.
And of course we wouldn’t want our country or our children to be moral, would we?
You get a fiscal conservative in office, which Bush was not, and they will cut spending.
You think Obama is good on foreign policy? Russia laughs at him and Iran and Nk thumb their noses at him. He won’t support people looking to be free but will support a socialist thrown out of office.
Again, fiscal conservative will cut spending and taxes.
Cap and Trade is a joke. It does nothing for the environment.
So, what has Obama done to come up with a renewable energy source?
Palin scares all you liberals because she represents everything you hate about this country.
I agree with you, but your points also reminded me why I refused to also vote for Obama (I wrote in Clinton during GE). He is very borderline on the social issues. I feel that he’s a lot more conservative on those than people give him credit for. He was a lot closer to McCain’s views (before McCain pandered to far right votes) than to the stereotypical “liberal”.
I also think that Obama was too religious, when compared to other candidates. There’s a reason why his church was under so much fire and Wright was the first person to speak about Obama’s nomination.
All in all, I think the parties are very similar in most of their solutions. The only one I give Democrats the edge is the foreign affairs. Unfortunately, in Obama’s case he was the dark horse when it came to that area. No one really knew how he would handle it and I thought he was the wrong Democratic candidate because of this. I am glad that he kept Hillary on as the top diplomat though.
