Need Some Help Playing Bball Against A Shorter (slightly) Kid???only Serious Players Plz?

I’m playing bball tomorrow against a guy who’s a)shorter than me b)a little bit faster than me c) can steal against me easily if i’m facing him (ie. he deflects my crossover) d) is a very good 3 pt shooter. how do I win a 1 v 1 game against him. i have a good drive, but i always rely on the crossover to get it started. i also have a good midrange jumper, an okay 3 pt shot, and a pretty good turnaround jumper. are then any strategies for playing against a player like this?? thanks for your help?? oh and list your source plz, tks again.
since he is a good defender, then post up against him. Use post up moves in order to keep your body inbetween the ball and him. You want to create easy shots, such as turn a round j’s and jumpshots. Therefore, use your strength and height advantage and take him to the paint! Don’t give him any room for the 3 pt. shot. Get right in his face and really make him uncomfortable with the ball! Be physical (but play it safe) and you should have a good shot to win the game. Good luck and God bless!
don’t dribble the ball too much. pass and run. do lots of cuts to the basket.
Why don’t you just beat him on your first dribble ? Move him with a fake and get the ball out on the floor and go past him. If he is picking off your dribble (and crossover), A) you are dribbling too much without any intent at beating him, B) your crossover is faulty and C) you are too predictable. You are probably making the first move and he reacts. Get him to make the first move. A good ball fake will do this. Your crossover is in front of your body and is easy to get. The crossover move is not a speed move but one where you get your opponent off balance and/or going the wrong way. Basically it’s a change of pace move.
If you are crossing to your left, pull the ball back toward your left shoulder (with the right hand) and he won’t get it. Your right leg should be extended toward him to protect the ball. If you get him off balance he will dictate what you can now do. So watch him when you make this move. Whatever he does you will have a counter for it. Then go hard to the basket or pull up and shoot the jumper.
Change up your game and he won’t know what hit him. The keys are not letting him get his hand on your dribble and beating him on your first move. You then retain control. The faking and the explode dribble may be new to you and you’ll have to practice these moves. But it will be worth it.
use a between the legs to crossover. its protective. you could also try behind the back
yo man i play against shorter players all the time partly because im pretty big and the one move i can always count on is a simple pull up jumper start ur drive and right where u would crossover pullup and shoot the jumper and that will usually open up other aspects of your game like the drive and post up and this can also take advantage of ur good midrange shot
Post up and if the crossover does not work, do not use it. You can go between the legs, behind the back or use the hesitation or jab step. As for defense, play him so he has to shoot. If he makes the 1st one good for him. If he makes the 2nd then start playing him tighter. Remember to use your feet and if he gets past you, remember that you’re taller which means you do have that advantage of blocking him.
