I’m not a power seller and I had made good money.
It is better to work around your interest, that is, you being an expert or familar with what you do and you can sell better.
Do research on what sells, compare with your knowledge in your area, large stock and quick availability (but not to keep too much inventory).
Research alternative websites for items. Try to get some excess stock at lower cost. Flea market may not work for consistent supplies.
I avoid drop shipping for one bad experience. A good drop shipper will not steal your business, especially repeated business. Just imagine the drop shipper inserts his name card and ship the item from your sale to your customer.
eBay can be very successful if you get yourself trained (fast method) rather than reading books lots of books (especially ebooks) and trying out. But you need great proven trainers.
Although I wasn’t trained, I had a vast background of internet marketing until i’d join eBay in June 2008.
