I’m a high school senior planning for college – architecture or engineering of some type.
I’ve read some economics books (like The World is Flat) and realized many engineering jobs are getting outsourced to China and India.
This worries me – will the American economy still be successful in 10 years? Will it be possible for Americans to study advanced fields in technology and engineering, and still compete with the sweatshop and low-paying megamanufacturers overseas?

I understand the environmental movement and the financiers are in favor of outsourcing, We must have another industrial scientific revolution that will improve our infrastructure and increase capacity for a growing population. We cannot let environmental movement(eugenicists) blame overpopulation or immigrants for our problems. We must get the factories working again and start another scientific revolution that will lead us to increased efficiency and eventually lead us to colonize space the next frontier.

so that I can go to a Lowes, or Home depot or a Target or a Walmart without seeing everything “made in china”??? I think just having a goal that only half our things in stores saying made in china compare to 90% right now would be a good head start to creating jobs…dont you?

I dont think so. These countries are wise and manipulated our politicians through bribes, but they will not be forsaking their workers.

Our Job that were being built up by record numbers from our previous president have been mostly destroyed, or sold out and the loss to growth after 9-11-01, still has not been made up. Our Greatest military ever, is more than less being outsourced to the highest Saudi bidders to fight their fight since Sadom was taken. Ben Laudin, must be a friend of the Cheney group, as we are not fighting to find him. Our country is barrowing money by the ship load from China, as we overspend. This so called leader of our nation is not leading in anyway, except as the worst leader ever in the world, all coutry’s having a big laugh at USA, the next Russia of the past soon The laws are changing, for the Few, not the country. So Tell me, Why is Bush a Sell out Snake from TX.

Would our jobs come back to us, would inflation go crazy bc of labor costs? I’m just curious what some views would be if we pulled all of our outsourcing back within our own borders.

Americans have come to be lazy, expecting a decent income and a nice house to live in. Parts of the economy get outsourced and they complain of foreigners ’stealing’ American jobs. Now answer me, who deserves the job more? Americans with all their wealth and laziness or people in countries such as China and India who work long hours for a humble income and lifestyle?

does anyone know the name of that trade agreement? I know about NAFTA that was signed under the Clinton presidency as well, but NAFTA has to do with trade in the americas..right?
